WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)
Rural Health Camps

Health camps were organized in 20 villages of Chaibasa in association with SEPL (ICC). The objective of conducting the health camp was to create awareness of general health among the people, provide general health care services and counsel them on basic healthcare and hygiene. Also, to make people aware of the health issues through cultural programme so that everyone could easily understand the concept. While registrations were being done, audio visuals were shown and plays based on health & hygiene, Dengue, Typhoid, and Diarrhoea were being performed for awareness of the people.

Essential medicines were provided free of cost under the supervision of dedicated medical staff consisting of Medical Officer, other Para-medical staff including Pharmacist, Nurse and General Duty attendant. Patients other than those who were having critical illnesses were benefitted from such camps as they have been referred to hospital for further treatment.

The health camps were huge success with overwhelming response from the local people. All consultation services provided at the camp are free for the beneficiaries.

EYE CHECK UP CAMPS & CATARACT OPERATION

Eye checkup camp was organized at various village of Jagannathpur and Chaibasa especially for elderly community people and this type of camp is organized on regular basis. Patients diagnosed with cataract are taken to the empaneled Eye Hospital at Jamshedpur for operation. Cost of operation with lens, glasses, medicines etc. was sponsored by Sarna Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. (SEPL)

DRINKING WATER FACILITIES

  • 42 Drinking water structures have been constructed with bore well, overhead water tank consisting of 1.0 HP motor fitted and soak pit for water recharging and conservation of water in identified villages to facilitate safe drinking water facility.
  • Organized awareness campaign in government schools and community centers for general awareness about water borne diseases and that most of the problem persist due to lack of safe drinking water. Sensitized villagers to use this ground water for drinking and other household items.

MOTHER & CHILD CARE

We believe that children are not future instead they are present because future can be better, safe and strong only when present is best, safer and stronger. Awareness campaign is undertaken on regular basis regarding

  • Identification of pregnant and lactating mother and linking them with anganwadi for availing six services of ICDS
  • Regular monthly health camps for health check-up, vaccination and distribution of Vitamin and iron tablets.
  • Ensuring timely Immunization of children.
  • Linking them to social security schemes
  • Counseling for family planning.
  • General Health check-up camps.
  • Meeting adolescent boys and girls for counseling.

INSTALATION OF SANITARY PAD VENDING MACHINE

The education system should work towards informing and educating girls about the menstruation cycle and body hygiene. Schools therefore, have a significant responsibility to talk about these bodily functions as well, and help adolescent girls regain their dignity. A student spends approximately eight hours of her life at school, every day. Unfortunately, several teachers shy away from discussing menstruation, hygiene and reproductive health in schools. We all have to join hands together to overcome this taboo.

Objective of the program is to improve health and hygiene practices among adolescents and women. As part of CSR initiative, installed five number of sanitary pad vending machine in different location of Chaibasa and Jagannatjpur block. The vending machines are installed at Sub division hospital; Chaibasa, Chaibasa College, Chaibasa Women’s College. Operational and maintenance for three years is to be done by us (NGO Partner). helps in. Awareness is done through street play, Group meetings, camps.

Revised National TB Control Programme

Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) program was conducted with the supported of District Tuberculosis, Jamshedpur. Objective of the project was to make people aware that it is non-communicable disease and curable with proper doses of medicine to be taken as prescribed. Also, monetary support is provided for regular visit for treatment and also to those who accompany the patients. What are the various symptoms of TB. Once traced it’s the responsibility of the team to do regular follow up as treatment and medicine are totally free. We organize panchayat wise camp with the support of PRI members, lab technician, sahiya, ANM, BDO and various other stakeholders to eradicate the myth associated with TB. Awareness is done through nukad natak. Awareness program was carried in 9 blocks where Screening of patients along with how benefits of related government schemes and linkage can be availed.

ICDT have been empaneled as Nodal agency by the District Health Department for taking up awareness campaign among PRI members in 7 Blocks of Chaibasa Sub-division. Purpose was to make collective effort to overcome the myths people are having regarding TB. Response from the PRI members, Mukhiya, Ward Members were very encouraging and they actively participated in each program. Awareness program was organized at panchayat level with the support of PRI members and village representative. The program proved to be very useful at the grass root level to eradicate Tuberculosis disease from the society.

Construction of HOUSEHOLD TOILET under SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN

1441 number of household lavatory (latrines) was constructed with the support of SEPL in selected villages. Objective was to promote Open Defecation Free (ODF) village as government too is augmenting construction of Household / Community toilet under its flagship program named Swachh Bharat Mission.

Organized awareness campaign among community people in community centre and village meetings to aware them about effects of Open defecation on human health and Environment which are increase in water borne and vector borne diseases, compounding the problem of disease exposure, malnutrition and child stunting, gender-based violence, contamination via microbes, visual and olfactory pollution to name few. Motivated them to use the latrines which is better both for health as well as environment.

Awareness program was organized in schools to educate the children about adopting the habit of hand washing before taking food and essentially use of toilet at home as they will act as changemakers. Rally was organized with display of placard for general awareness among community people as an initiative to support for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of the Government.

PLANTATION

Economic globalization combined with the looming global land scarcity increases the complexity of future pathways of land use change. Depletion of natural resources has direct and indirect causes. Community must be sensitized about the consequences of deforestation and why conservation of trees is essential. It is essential for us to keep the environment clean and pollution free where we live in. Plantation of saplings must become a part of habit to overcome the pollution hazards and also helps in Cleaner air across the country, cleaner water and natural filtration, carbon sequestration, controlled temperatures, a new habitat for wildlife, protects us from natural disasters to name few.

150 saplings have been planted in and around five identified mining area.

1000 plant planted in different mining location under csr project area and CSR project villages.

  • Being responsible citizen, it is essential for us to keep the environment clean and pollution free where we live in.
  • Plantation of saplings has become a part of habits to overcome the pollution hazards.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT / KAUSHAL VIKAS YOJNA (PMKVY)

Training program under PMKVY was undertaken for the unskilled employees and contractors’ employee and skill certificates were provided after RPL training to them. Similarly, local unemployed youths were also trained and skill certificates were provided to them for their employment/entrepreneurship in respective fields. Some of local unemployed youths have also been engaged in Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki as Fitter.(In detail)

SPORTS
Archery Competition

Tribal youths are very talented in Archery in the local area. Training on Archery by expert coach has been provided to School children and village youths. Some of the youths participated in inter-district and inter-state Archery tournament and won prizes. This was done to help adolescents participate in extracurricular activities which is must apart from studies.

Football League and Mega Cricket Match

  • Every year Football league is organized and number of talented youths participate in inter- state league tournament. Local tribal youths are given opportunity to prove their talent and Football is one of the most played outdoor games in rural areas.
  • Every year Cricket tournament is organized. Youths from all corners are participating in full spirit and enthusiasm.
